Roy Keane didn’t mince his words when analysing Newcastle’s performance in a 3-2 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Manchester United survived a late scare to beat Newcastle to go level on points with the them in the table, although we remain in eighth place.

Goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund secured three points for United on the night. Anthony Gordon equalised to make it 1-1 after 49 minutes, while Lewis Hall scored two minutes in stoppage time to cut United’s winning margin to one goal at 3-2.

Andy Cole joined Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney in the studio for match coverage, and the former striker who represented both clubs gave Newcastle credit for the goals they scored.

That was before Keane intervened by reminding everyone that Newcastle don’t have a good record at Old Trafford. The former United captain suggested this is a sign that Newcastle are not as tough as they like to think.

Keane said: “Their [Newcastle] is poor here [Old Trafford]. Sometimes it’s a head job. Maybe they’re not as tough as they think.”

To be fair, has that not always been the case with Newcastle?

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon couldn’t help but whine about VAR in his post-match interview.

The winger complained about a tackle from Sofyan Amrabat which left him feeling “really sore”.  Bless his cotton socks.
